500 kV Dadu–Shikarpur Circuit-II

Tower No. 109 (type SJG) of the 500 kV Dadu–Shikarpur Circuit-II was brought down by a heavy windstorm and rain on 3 October 2025. MRCC mobilised cranes, gas-cutting crews and erection gangs to cut away the damaged steel and rebuild the tower, working through the night. The line was completed, accepted and re-energised by NGC.

Three collapsed 500 kV towers rebuilt on Dadu–Shikarpur

In April 2024 three SJG-type towers, locations 37, 38 and 39, collapsed on the 500 kV Dadu–Shikarpur Circuit-II. MRCC cleared the twisted steel, rebuilt the three towers with cranes, re-hung the insulator strings, restrung the quad-bundle conductors, welded the nuts and bolts and handed the circuit back. NTDC re-energised the line.

Record restoration · After Cyclone Biparjoy · Client NTDC

132 kV Jhimpir-II wind corridor restored in record time

Cyclone Biparjoy brought down towers on the 132 kV double-circuit lines that carry power from the Jhimpir wind farms into the grid. MRCC crews and equipment reached site on 14 June 2023, a day before the Federal Minister for Energy inspected the damage on 15 June and called for the line to be back within days. Working round the clock, MRCC dismantled the four collapsed towers at locations 90 to 93, butt-jointed and jacketed all twelve foundation legs, erected three WPS and one WPA tower, restrung 1.55 km of twin conductor with spacers and dampers, and handed the circuits back for testing. The work was completed on 20 June 2023 and the line from Jhimpir-II to Indus WPP and Liberty-II to Din WPP was energised. The Federal Minister for Energy commended the restoration as completed in record time.
